Humstory:Went solo after the demise of Urban Panic, met Ash at singer's night at the Park Hotel and started appearing as a sporadic, shambolic duo. Hums asked Ash to join (but not me!) later (sometime early in 1997) musical matchmaker Ash suggested I joined as a spare guitar/bass player - at first practice Vicki was heard to declare "Oh, you sing as well" - contributed four song/lead vocals to the first LP. They rest is humstory. They had hired a monster!

Role in band:Over excitable indie-pop shiester of limited musical ability - comes up with song ideas though.

Favourite singers and bands:Beach Boys, Belle And Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, Wedding Present (and Cinerama), The Chills, Bob Dylan, Billy Bragg, The Kinks, Violent Femmes, early R.E.M., Velvet Underground, Jonathan Richman, Kiss, The Pixies, Smiths, Lemonheads, Go Betweens, Campervan Beethoven and all the cool 60's stuff.

What are you listening to at the moment:Hidden Cameras, Gorgol Bordello, Arcade Fire, Belle And Sebastian, Magic Numbers and Chilli Peppers. I'm also having obsessive Johnny Cash, Michelle Shocked, Byrds, Morrissey/Smiths, Ska and Rockabilly revivals. Also as I've just acquired a new record player all the old vinyl is being eagerly revisited.

First record bought:The Wild West Heroes sing EOL, Midnight Dynamos LP - Matchbox, Alive2 - Kiss, What You're Proposing - Status Quo, Rock And Roll 'Aint Noise Pollution - ACDC and an Imagination LP (to impress a girl surely!!?)

Best Gigs:Campervan Beethoven (Manchester Uni), Pulp (Glastonbury), Yo La Tengo (Manchester Music Academy), The Smiths (Newcastle, Riverside), Wedding Present (Milton Keynes Bowl) AND... Rolf Harris (Glastonbury), best gig ever!

Previous bands:Exit (punk covers at school. Lasted 2 weeks. I sang), The Spanners (Legendary North Yorkshire Do Wop sensation - I was "Mr Bassman"), Urban Panic (Five years of Lancaster indie jangle - I played guitar and sang in later manifestation) and the Swan Hunters (Brief folk/rock venture with Ash - I sang and played guitar).

Current side projects:Stonking rockabilly group Rockit 88 (with Ash and Paul plus Andrew from Phonefish) also keep meaning to do a solo CD to be released some time!!!
